
Dr. Georges HALPERN
Dr. Georges Halpern attended the Sorbonne, then the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Paris where he received his M.D. degree in 1964. He subsequently qualified in Nuclear Medicine and was board certified in General Medicine, Internal Medicine and Allergy & Clinical Immunology. In 1992 he received his Ph.D./D.Sc. degree with highest honours and jury honours from the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Paris XI for his thesis on “Skin hyperreactivity and Histamine”. Dr. Halpern practiced Internal Medicine, Allergy/Immunology in Paris, served as an outside consultant for WHO and conducted research in allergy, immunology, psychopharmacology, nutrition and public health.
After a Visiting Professorship and Research Scholarship at Stanford University, Dr. Halpern was Adjunct Professor of Medicine at the University of California at Davis, Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Rheumatology, Allergy & Clinical Immunology, and Professor of Nutrition, College of Agriculture & Environmental Sciences. He is currently Emeritus.
Dr. Halpern has published 17 books, 56 book chapters, 138 original papers and hundreds of reviews and abstracts, and has lectured in 76 countries. He held a part-time position (Pathology; Chinese Medicine; Pharmacology) at the University of Hong Kong and is currently Distinguished Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the Polytechnic University of Hong Kong. Dr. Halpern is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine (London) and of 26 other prestigious national, foreign and international academies and scientific societies.
